Active and adventure tourism is practised making basic use of natural resources
in air, terrestrial or aquatic habitats.
There is no certain profile of people who choose the active tourism. According
to Ramirez, they are usually men and women between 18 and 50 years old with
a medium, even a medium-high standard of living. Besides, he assures that there
has been an age increase in last years. Ramirez acknowledges that the highest
percentage is composed by tourists under 35 as they prefer adventure activities.
He states that the youngest tourists usually come from Spain whereas foreigners
are over the age of 35. This last group of tourists is usually more used to
these practices. Unlike the Spaniards, they choose longer activities with an
excellent quality although they are more expensive and intense. Foreigners are
not satisfied just with a ravine descend.
You do not have to be a very experienced sportsman in peak condition to face
this type of activities. Just an adventure spirit and motivation are necessary.
Guides provide the material, knowledge and the necessary safety elements. Active
tourism is practised by all those people who regard it as an especial attraction
as they evade themselves and completely forget their daily routines. Individuals,
schoolchildren and enterprise workers form part of the potential tourist group.
As far as enterprises are concerned, there are many companies from all the sectors
which use these activities as a motivation for workers. Some of them are department
stores and technology enterprises with national or foreign capital.
